Digital innovation

In July and August a computernetwork and e-learning portal was installed at the LHI. This was a coordinated effort of the the Getu Foundation, 'stichting LAN' and IT-students from the Nova College.

The new system gives students and staff access to reference and exercise material, both from the internet and in an internal digital library. It is one more step towards a modern, efficient way of training health care personell.

Wilde Ganzen added value to your gift!

In 2006 the Getu Foundation cooperated with the Dutch oecomenical fundraising foundation of the Wilde Ganzen, to finance teaching materials for the LNI.

Thanks to generous donations from many people in Holland, Africa and the U.S., to which the Wilde Ganzen then added 70%, we raised 30.000 euro. With this money we paid for the ever needed teaching aids and reference books (as most students do not have any of these at home), as well as anatomic models and all sorts of practicing materials.

International Nurse Day in Lusaka, May 12, 2006

Short report from Charlotte Peters, a Dutch medical student from Amsterdam, who worked as a volunteer at the LNI:

“Friday was NURSE DAY and the school was invited to join in a big march through Lusaka. At 7.15 a.m. I (alone) was ready to go, and at 8.00 a.m. we were all there, banner, T-shirts and caps included, to march with all the other nursing organisations. Unfortunately the Zambian minister of Health believes in the creed ‘time is an illusion’, so she arrived 2,5 hour late… Then we marched, it was a happy occasion, and all the city traffic was held up…”. The event was organised by the Zambian Nursing Association; the LNI was the only school to turn up with its own banner and all its students - another good advertisement for the institute!
